Grave Flowers Südfriedhof Düsseldorf
Südfriedhof at Am Südfriedhof 14 (40221 Düsseldorf) lies in the old south of the city in the Bilk district, near Volmerswerth — a roughly 46-hectare, park-like grounds where the first burial took place in 1904 and which has been listed as a garden monument since 1994/95. We bind grave arrangements, funeral wreaths and seasonal grave planting in our Pempelfort shop and set them on a grave there. Honestly: Pempelfort sits north of the old town and Südfriedhof in the south — for us that is the other side of the city centre. We still gladly drive the route once you give us the field and grave number.
How it works: you come into the shop, call, or message via the contact form. We discuss the occasion (burial, All Saints’ Day, anniversary, simple upkeep), the grave size, your colour and style wishes and the budget. If you know the field and grave number at Südfriedhof, the on-site handover is easier — for a first visit a rough description is enough.
Scope: grave arrangements (classic elongated or as a bowl), funeral wreaths, planted grave bowls and complete seasonal grave planting. For burials we also bind casket flowers and mourning arrangements with a printed ribbon. What we do not offer is a contractual perpetual grave-care subscription — we are a specialist florist, not a cemetery-gardener service with a watering round. For pure perpetual care we honestly refer you to the on-site cemetery gardeners.
Lead time and timing: for a burial we ideally need two to three working days so wreath and arrangement can be made calmly and rare varieties can be sourced from the Veiling. At short notice we still bind arrangements same- or next-day. For All Saints’ Day (1 November) and Totensonntag we recommend ordering one to two weeks ahead — these days are busy, and at Südfriedhof too graves are traditionally decorated with lights and arrangements for All Saints’ Day.
Style and options: we work restrained and natural — calm palettes, plenty of greenery, seasonal accents instead of loud blocks of colour. In spring we set pansies, primroses and bulb flowers; in summer sun-loving and robust perennials; in autumn heather, chrysanthemums and grasses; in winter frost-hardy planting and fir greenery. Practice and Veiling sourcing: our flowers arrive fresh daily from the Veiling Rhein-Maas — which matters especially for funeral floristry that stands outdoors on the grave and has to withstand the weather. We deliver and set up the grave flowers at Südfriedhof; alternatively you collect everything in Pempelfort (Duisburger Str. 55) and place it yourself. The cross-city drive is billed transparently as a delivery flat rate — you hear the amount in advance.

- How much lead time do you need for a burial at Südfriedhof?
- For wreath and casket flowers ideally two to three working days. At shorter notice a grave arrangement is often possible same- or next-day — just call us and we will tell you honestly what is feasible by when.

- Both work. - What does seasonal grave planting cost?
- It depends on the grave size and depth of planting. A small urn grave is cheaper than a full-width elected grave. We look at the measurements, propose a seasonal planting and quote the price in advance — no subscription, no hidden follow-up costs.
- Do you also handle ongoing grave care through the year?
- We plant seasonally and deliver arrangements and wreaths for the memorial days — but a contractual perpetual grave care with a regular watering round we deliberately do not offer. There are cemetery gardeners right at Südfriedhof for that, to whom we honestly refer you.
