Flowers in Kalkum

Kalkum is one of Düsseldorf's smallest and quietest districts — only around 2,000 people live here in the far north, embedded between the Kalkumer Forst woodland, the castle park and open fields. The moated Schloss Kalkum defines the place, surrounded by half-timbered houses, detached homes and plenty of greenery. Our bouquets here mostly go to families and long-standing residents who value natural, grown-up floristry.

Natural bouquet for Düsseldorf-Kalkum

Kalkum keeps its village character to this day: around Oberdorfstraße with the catholic church St. Lambertus, the Kalkumer Schloßallee leading to the castle and the Alte Kalkumer Straße form the historic core. Those who live here value the calm, the protected forests and gravel lakes and the closeness to historic Kaiserswerth.

Typical occasions: milestone birthdays and anniversaries in the detached homes, bouquets for baptisms and weddings at St. Lambertus, host gifts for invitations and festive arrangements for the concerts and cultural events at Schloss Kalkum, which housed the North Rhine-Westphalia state archive until 2014. Funeral floristry happens too — here we coordinate with the parish and the funeral director.

We deliver weekdays and Saturdays. Kalkum, however, lies in the far north of Düsseldorf — same-day is not guaranteed here. Please allow for a longer drive; delivery by arrangement, ideally ordered a day in advance so we can reliably plan the route.

Stylistically Kalkum suits natural, grown-up bouquets: peonies, hydrangeas, garden roses and meadow flowers with seasonal greenery, bound by hand. Less strictly classic pyramids, more loose and rural — fitting the green, castle-side surroundings.

Honest about the connection to our Pempelfort shop (Duisburger Str. 55): Kalkum is around 12 km away, roughly 20–25 minutes by car via the B8 or A52 depending on traffic. By public transport Kalkum is best reached on the U79 light rail, which stops at Kalkumer Schloßallee right inside the district and runs to the main station without changing; the bus lines 749, 760 and 751 serve the area as well. Kalkum no longer has an S-Bahn stop — the old station was closed. For us the distance means: scheduled delivery days rather than spontaneous same-day runs.
