Flowers in Lichtenbroich
Lichtenbroich is a small, quiet residential district in Düsseldorf's far north (Borough 6, around 6,000 residents) — it grew strongly after the Second World War as a settlement for expellees from East and West Prussia and Pomerania. Row houses, terraced blocks and down-to-earth rentals dominate rather than grand old buildings. Our bouquets in Lichtenbroich go to long-standing residents, young families and tenant communities — more classic and warm-hearted than trend-driven.
The district clusters around Lichtenbroicher Weg and Eckenerstraße; the plain post-war houses around Krahnenburgstraße still carry the nickname „Klein-Korea“ (Little Korea), because the settlement was finished just as the Korean War broke out. To the north the district borders a large commercial area with airlines, telecoms and car-rental firms, as well as the Kalkumer Forst with its old gravel-pit lake — a green, quiet corner right at the city limits.

From our shop in Pempelfort (Duisburger Str. 55) it is roughly 7 to 8 km north to Lichtenbroich, about 15 to 20 minutes by car depending on traffic via the B8 or the Mörsenbroicher Ei junction. By public transport the district is reached via tram line U79 (stop Eckenerstraße) and several bus routes such as 729, 759 and 760.
