New Year Flowers
The turn of the year calls for flowers that celebrate without looking like Christmas — and that ideally carry a little luck into the new year. Early January offers a narrower auction range than spring, but this is exactly when amaryllis, hyacinths and the first tulips are at their best. Order early and your New Year greeting smells of fresh starts, not leftovers.

For the Silvester party itself, statement flowers pay off: amaryllis stands tall and elegant on the buffet, a single strelitzia looks almost like fireworks in the vase. For table settings, combine a few large heads with eucalyptus or ruscus as greenery — it lasts the whole evening, even when it gets late and warm in the room.
The New Year greeting on January 1st or 2nd can be quieter and more hopeful. Hyacinths and the first tulips bring scent and a promise of spring into the grey January light — exactly the right message for the start of the year. White and green read clear and refined, a few golden-yellow accents stand for luck and prosperity without turning kitschy.
What we’d avoid at the turn of the year: anything that looks like Christmas taken down late. Deep-red amaryllis with fir and pine cones is simply yesterday by January 2nd. For festivity that doesn’t stay stuck in the old year, reach for white, clean green and one strong single colour rather than the full Christmas set.
In practice we source in early January exactly what comes through the Veiling Rhein-Maas auction in A1 quality — volumes are tighter after the holidays, but what does arrive is freshly cut. Better a few flawless stems than a full bouquet of leftovers. A family business of 45 years means: we order the beautiful, not the plentiful.
Frequently asked
- Which flowers fit New Year’s Eve without looking like Christmas?
- Go for white and clean green instead of red-green-gold: white amaryllis, hyacinths and tulips with eucalyptus read festive but fresh. A single golden-yellow accent signals luck without sliding into the Christmas look.
- Can I have a New Year greeting delivered on New Year’s Day itself?
- We don’t deliver on January 1st. We deliver Silvester bouquets until the afternoon of December 31st and New Year greetings from January 2nd across Düsseldorf. It’s best to plan your greeting for the 2nd.
- When should I order flowers for the turn of the year?
- One to two days ahead is ideal. Over the holidays auction volumes are tighter — with a little lead time we source specifically in A1 quality for your order, rather than picking from what’s left.
- Which flower brings luck for the new year?
- Golden-yellow tones traditionally stand for luck and prosperity, white blooms for a clean fresh start. Hyacinths and the first tulips carry the promise of spring into the new year — a lovely, hopeful gesture for the start of the year.
