Bridal Bouquet Styles: Classic, Wild-Meadow, Cascading, Compact

Four main forms, how they read, and which fits which wedding style.

Bridal bouquet

Bridal bouquets come in four main forms — classic round, loose wild-meadow, cascading, and compact-structural. Which you choose depends on dress, venue and personal style.

Style 1 — classic round (Posy): perfect round dome, tightly bound, all heads at the same height. Elegant classic, fits all formal weddings, every dress cut, every venue. Safest choice.

Style 2 — wild-meadow (Wildflower): loose, asymmetric, many varieties, visible stems and greenery. Fits rustic venues (farm, garden, barn), vintage dresses, boho weddings. Reads young and casual.

Style 3 — cascading: long teardrop form, drapes down over the hand. Classic in royal weddings (Kate Middleton's was a cascade). Fits A-line dresses and church ceremonies. Reads very formal.

Style 4 — compact-structural: smaller bouquet with fewer but dominant flowers (e.g. 5 peonies + eucalyptus). Modern, minimalist. Fits simple bridal dresses and industrial venues.

Size: average bridal bouquet is 25–35 cm diameter. Larger feels overwhelming on petite brides. Smaller looks lost with large dresses.

Palette: monochrome bridal bouquets (e.g. white-cream-eucalyptus only) read timeless and elegant. Colourful suits summer outdoor weddings. Pastel for romantic spring, muted-warm for autumn.

Season tip: fixated on a specific variety (e.g. peony bouquet), you must marry in season or accept Plan B. Peonies are only May/June — none in February.

Perishability: bridal bouquets typically last 6–10 hours without water (binding to ceremony end). Less in summer heat. We always deliver bridal bouquets with stem water tubes and delivery timed to the event.

Cost: simple bridal bouquet from €80, generous seasonal from €150, statement with rare varieties €200+. Remember: bridal bouquet is one of typically 8–15 floristry pieces (boutonnieres, bridesmaid bouquets, parent bouquets, table arrangements, arch floristry).

Frequently asked

When should I book bridal bouquet consultations?
First consultation 6–9 months before the wedding. Second 2 months ahead to finalise style. Final 1 week before for seasonal adjustment.
Which style fits a simple wedding dress?
Compact-structural — few dominant flowers rather than many small. Or classic round in white-cream. Wild-meadow can feel too busy with very simple dresses.
Do you keep the bridal bouquet?
Classically yes — take apart and hang blooms to dry, or keep the whole bouquet as a dried piece. We also offer professional preservation (glycerine or vacuum-dry) on request.
