Thank-You Flowers

A thank-you needs no calendar — it arrives when someone has done something kind. That's why thank-you flowers are in demand all year: for the neighbour who took in the parcel, the colleague who covered for you, the doctor, the midwife, the host. We bind the bouquet fresh from whatever looked best at the Veiling Rhein-Maas that morning — and add a handwritten card on request.

Friendly thank-you bouquet in yellow and peach with freesias and ranunculus

The key to a thank-you: the size has to match the occasion. A small, dense bouquet of freesias, ranunculus or sweet peas says a warm thank-you without putting the recipient on the spot — ideal for neighbours, colleagues or a small favour. For a big thank-you (someone carried you through a hard time) a full bouquet of lisianthus, hydrangeas and roses is right.

On colour, yellow, peach and warm pink are almost always correct — friendly, grateful tones that aren't romantic. Yellow freesias or sunflowers express sincere appreciation. We deliberately avoid deep-red roses: red is the romantic code and can land wrong on a pure thank-you.

What doesn't pay off: grabbing a supermarket bunch on the way home. Those flowers have often sat for days. At a florist the bouquet comes from water refilled overnight straight from the auction — so it lasts a good week longer. A thank-you that wilts after three days is only half a thank-you.

Our tip from 45-plus years in Pempelfort: a few excellent stems beat a lot of filler. Seven flawless ranunculus with a little eucalyptus read more valuable than a big bouquet padded out with greenery. And don't forget the card — two honest sentences turn flowers into a real thank-you.

Frequently asked

How big should a thank-you bouquet be?
It depends on the occasion. For a small favour or a neighbour, a compact bouquet of 7–9 stems is plenty. For a big thank-you — someone genuinely supported you — a full, generous bouquet is fitting. When in doubt we'll advise you briefly by phone.
Which colour suits a thank-you best?
Yellow, peach and warm pink read grateful and friendly without being romantic. Yellow freesias or sunflowers are the classic thank-you choice. We avoid deep-red roses here, since red signals love rather than thanks.
Can I add a personal card?
Yes, and we strongly recommend it. Just give us your text — we write it by hand on a card and include it free of charge. Two honest sentences turn the bouquet into a real thank-you.
Do you deliver the thank-you the same day?
In Düsseldorf usually yes — order by late morning and we often deliver the same day to both sides of the Rhine. For a specific time slot or a wider selection, ordering a day ahead is best.
